Materials and Installation
We understand your outdoor space is the first impression as guests arrive to your home. To keep the smallest of critters from your outdoor space, we install steel mesh material that stands at a height of 36-72 inches on existing walls and fencing. The mesh is black PVC coated galvanized steel 1/4” square opening in size rated for up to 30 years of outdoor life and is nearly invisible from a distance. We care about how our product looks and pride ourselves in how our product is practically invisible. We consider the overall aesthetic of our work and its placement in your yard and will do our best to blend the mesh with your existing walls, fencing, and gates.
To ensure the safety and overall function of the mesh fencing we determine whether we need to dig a trench below your existing barriers or affix the mesh to the existing concrete curb to keep animals from burrowing under. For properties with dirt or gravel under their existing barrier, we will trench the perimeter at least 6-inches deep and burry the mesh. For existing barriers with a concrete block curb, we extend the mesh below the curb and secure it below to keep anything from slipping underneath. We will extend the mesh to the end of the existing barrier and drill into the block wall or fence posts to properly secure the mesh from shifting or lifting.
Summer in Arizona gets hot, which means we only use materials that can withstand years of wear and tear without potential of deterioration. You will never see us using metal ties or zip ties, we only use metal screws to secure the mesh fence to your existing barriers. Although some Homeowners Associations may suggest inside installation, it is crucial to challenge such requirements, as they may not fully appreciate the added risk associated with this approach. It is not advisable to install snake fencing on the inside of existing fencing. Snake fencing must be on the exterior to effectively prevent snake access. As well, nearby shrubs and trees should be trimmed or removed, for ease of installation and to prevent snakes from using them as leverage to climb up and over. Snakes cannot climb up straight walls or metal, however they do sometimes hang out in trees or bushes, but if they don’t have a “foot”-hold, they cannot climb.
Gates and Drain Blocks
In addition to minimizing entry points along your fence line, we also install a permanent barrier along your gates and drain blocks that critters can’t easily get through. We continue the use of 1/4” mesh wire on the face of your gate to secure any gaps with large openings. Access points are also sealed off with steel to secure gaps around the perimeter of the gate. We will also pour a concrete curb below a gate to ensure a permanent barrier with a maximum of 1/4” opening to maintain the function of your gate without obstruction. Drain blocks and other small access points are sealed with the same wire mesh and concrete anchors to secure into place.
